Cheri Valentine, 'Drag Race UK' star dies at 28

"RuPaul's Drag Race" contestant George Ward has died at the age of 28.

The family said Ward, who rose to fame in "RuPaul's Drag Race UK", died on 18 September.

The family said: "It is extremely heartbreaking and extremely sad to inform you that our George - Cheri Valentine - has sadly passed away.

“This will be a huge blow to most people and we understand that its announcement is not that easy”

Born in Darlington, in the north-east of England, George Ward was raised in the traveler community, where he began dragging as a child.

He appeared in six episodes of the show, which airs on BBC Three in 2020–2021.

Before getting into "Drag Race," Ward worked as a mental health nurse. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he worked in vaccination units.

BBC Three's Controller Fiona Campbell said: "We are all shocked and shocked to hear of George's passing.
