Who plans to say goodbye to this world? It is around this that director and writer Vikas Bahl has built the story of the film Goodbye (Goodbye Movie Review 20222). Mumbai-based lawyer Tara (Rashmika Mandanna) is partying to win her first case. Mother calls but she gets disconnected. The next day it is learned that his mother Gayatri Bhalla (Neena Gupta), who lives in Chandigarh, has passed away.
Story of Goodbye
The story of the film begins with the victory party of Tara Bhalla (Rashmika Mandanna), where she is celebrating winning one of her cases. His father Harish Bhalla (Amitabh Bachchan) has been calling him continuously from his home in Chandigarh. But at the party, Mast Tara ignores the phone calls.
The next morning he learns that his mother Gayatri (Neena Gupta) has died of a heart attack and that is why his father was calling him. Tara is surrounded by a deep sense of guilt. Other members of the family include elder son Angad (Pavail Gulati) and firing daughter-in-law Daisy (Eli Avram) have shifted abroad, another adopted son is also abroad and a younger son has gone mountaineering.
Now under what circumstances do the children of Harish and Gayatri reach their mother’s funeral, from here the story of the film proceeds. But this story describes the mental, social and economic condition of the characters through the funeral rituals of Gayatri.
While modern daughter Tara describes these rituals as superstition, father Harish names it Aastha, but the science and logic behind this belief rests on the shoulders of Pandit (Sunil Grover).

Faith or Science?
Her father Harish Bhalla (Amitabh Bachchan) is angry with her. When she reaches home, Gayatri’s dead body is placed there by putting cotton wool in her nostril, with her toes tied together. Tara does not like all these customs. She tells the father that there is no logic in this.
The father says that these customs have been going on for thousands of years. Gayatri has three more sons. Eldest son Karan (Pavail Gulati) returns from America with his wife Daisy (Elli Avram). Adopted son Angad (Sahil Mehta) hails from Dubai. The third son Nakul (Abhishek Khan) is a mountaineer, he reaches after all the rituals are over. Is there any logic in these customs or is it science, which is linked to faith?
The Film is Cold in The Interval
Director Vikas had told in his interview that he got the idea to make this film from his friend. His father told him that after my departure all the customs should end in one day because he will spend time with Shri Krishna and you will trouble him with these customs.
It is not easy to make a comedy-drama (Goodbye Movie Review 20222) about death and funeral. Evolution’s attempt is good, but by the end, he is not able to tell whether he is trying to find any logic in custom or that he even considers it a science. After the intermission, the film deviates from the subject.
Emotional Goodbye in Many Places
At one point it seems that the film should be over now, but after that, the entry of the third son makes the film (Goodbye Movie Review 20222) longer. In some pictures, scenes are seen of young Harish proposing to Gayatri. It is interesting to see pictures of young Amitabh in this.
After Gayatri’s death, consider messaging your children on her mother’s number, with Harish sitting down immediately after his wife’s death and making a list of funeral items, talking to the wife’s ashes before shedding the ashes. When I didn’t get time to talk about these rituals, the dog of the house emotionalizes the scene by being sad for the mistress.
Show Your Power in the Music!
Pavail, Sahil, and Ashish Vidyarthi fit their characters. Sunil Grover impresses in the small role of Pandit. Elli Avram doesn’t have any special dialogues. Editor A Sreekar Prasad could have shortened the duration of the film (Goodbye Movie Review 20222) by cutting some songs with tight editing. Amit Trivedi’s music and background score are good. Swanand Kirkire’s song Jaykaal, Mahakal… The song gives me goosebumps.

It was a surprisingly poor start for Goodbye (Goodbye Movie Review 20222) as only 1 crore* came in on the first day. This column predicted 1-1.5 crores and that too with low expectations.
Box office Collection Day 2
The Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Alvida failed to rake in huge earnings in its opening weekend. The film collected Rs 2-3 crore on Friday and earned Rs 1.5 crore on its first Saturday with 18.34 percent viewership in theatres.
